Our Mission
Ready, Set, Shine! Inc. is a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit organization dedicated to educating people about the impact/importance of the arts, showing people accessible ways to get involved or support the arts, and raising funds to be donated to art programs in New York schools as well as scholarship opportunities to help New York students pursue the arts!
Our Story
In November 2017, my life took an unexpected turn. Throughout my childhood, I had been a shy student, but everything changed when I decided to audition for the fifth-grade musical, The Little Mermaid Jr. To my surprise, I landed the lead role of Ariel, but despite my excitement, I felt apprehensive about the journey ahead. The support of my peers and mentors helped ease my nerves. This experience marked my introduction to the arts and sparked a profound transformation in my life. In the few months that we have been formed, we have already made an impact statewide.
Access: We've successfully raised more than $3,500, which we've donated to arts programs in numerous schools across New York City. We've established a scholarship for students aspiring to pursue the arts on a collegiate and professional level. We've utilized social media platforms, delivered speeches, and regularly distributed monthly newsletters offering accessible ways for individuals to support and engage with the arts.
Advocacy: Advocating for fair funding for the arts, particularly in marginalized communities, is crucial to us. We tirelessly promote equitable funding for arts programs across the state. In addition to sharing our personal journey within the arts, we also disseminate statistical evidence showcasing the profound impact that arts engagement has on students' lives.
Awareness: To advance our initiative, we speak and perform for various stakeholders, including public officials, school administrators, parents, and students. Our aim is to illustrate the personal significance of the arts to us and to ignite a passion for artistic involvement among students. We strive to educate audiences about the profound social, emotional, and academic impact of the arts on individuals' lives. Through our campaign #ReadySetShine, we leverage social media platforms to showcase the life-changing experiences of other artists engaged in the arts.
